On Thursday, January 25th, we will eat, drink, be merry, celebrate the birth of Robbie Burns, sing Auld Lang Syne (Burns recorded the words), and look forward to 2018. Auld Lang Syne symbolizes reunion – not parting. The song looks back over happy days from the past, separation, then coming back together.
So let’s come back together - find a kilt or a tartan, pin on a wisp of plaid, bring a favourite Burns quote or poem to share, and come to the club on January 25th – we’ll make some new Burns Day traditions, just for KYC.
Nelly’s Catering has a delicious, traditional Robbie Burns Day dinner planned for us:
Starter is a choice of:
Cock a Leekie Soup (with chicken and leeks)
or
Vegetarian Soup
Main course, served with crusty bread, is a choice of
Scottish Beef Stew with Skirlie Mash (mashed potatoes with oatmeal)
or
Vegetarian option of Vegan Shepard’s Pie
And, for dessert, Raspberry Cranachan Trifle
The cost is $17.50 per person, cash payable to the caterer.
