About Us

90 Years of Community Sailing in Vancouver

Since 1934, Kitsilano Yacht Club has welcomed Vancouver to the water. Generations have learned, raced, and made friends here. Today, our nonprofit, volunteer-powered club keeps that spirit alive.

Members enjoy a friendly, welcoming social scene; a community hub for paddling — outrigger, kayak, and SUP; active one-design sailboat racing in the Star, 5O5, Martin 242, Lightning, and Cal 20 fleets; and accessible ways to get on the water without owning a boat through our co-op program. We are proud to offer inclusive learn-to-sail programs for youth and adults (no membership required!)

With a focus on inclusivity, community, and a passion for the water, we welcome all sailors and paddlers—new and experienced alike

Summer Sailing Camps

Spend the summer on English Bay. Our full-day sailing camps give kids and teens hands-on time to build skills, make friends, and grow more confident on the water. There are options for first-time sailors and those ready to progress. No club membership is required.

Youth Sailing Team

Ready to try racing? The KYC Youth Sailing Team helps young sailors build boat speed, control, and confidence through coached training in Optimist dinghies. Sailors learn together and can take part in club events and regattas as they progress.

Adult Sailing Courses

Start sailing or build on the skills you already have. Our hands-on adult courses offer two ways to learn on English Bay: responsive dinghies or small keelboats sailed as a crew. Beginners are welcome, and you do not need a boat or club membership.

KYC is the Home of Pacific Reach Paddling

Pacific Reach was founded in 2001 with the vision of establishing competitive race crews within a vibrant social club. The club brings together distance and sprint paddlers and race teams, with a focus on fitness and training in outrigger OC6, stand-up paddleboarding (SUP), marathon canoe, and surfski.

Pacific Reach promotes the sport of paddling in the Vancouver community and wherever its teams travel to race. Its activities align with the mandates of the Canadian Outrigger Racing Association, Dragon Boat Canada, and Kitsilano Yacht Club.
